A Look Into My Studio

Every week I try to devote at least one day to working in my studio and just being creative. I would love everyday to be studio day for me, but I am still in college full time working to get my degree in Entrepreneurial Studies. Lately though, I have been spending at least an hour in my studio 3 times a week to get ready for the GNO benefit in less than a month!

Last Friday I worked in about 3 hours of studio time just making my delicious polymer clay goodies. I snapped a few pictures when I was almost done just to show you all a little of the behind the scenes.

I use a ceramic tile to work on when I make my polymer clay jewelry. Here you can see some almost finished charms, raw clay, icings, a razor, and liquid clay and glaze. That day I made some waffles, ice cream cones, boba tea charms, and lots of cupcakes!

I think sometimes others do not understand how long it takes to create my tiny faux food jewelry. I put a lot of attention to detail and quality in my charms (not all charms and polymer clay food is created equal). A lot of my charms can take up to an hour each to make!

But I have to say that I have a huge passion for creating tiny charms that make remind me of my childhood and bring back the fun and whimsy of being a girl and always a child at heart.

Look out for an awesome giveaway coming up within the next week. It will be hosted here.

I hope you enjoyed a little glimpse into the FFD studio!

Big Changes Planned for FFD

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about improving the FFD website. A few weeks ago I ran several poles on my DeviantArt account asking people their opinions about could be improved with the website to make it more customer friendly. Most people said more ways to pay and more variety. People also liked the idea of customizing their own Sweet Treats Jewelry.

I have decided that I want to completely overhaul the FFD website. I am going to change the site to a Yahoo Webstore, which would allow for improvements in all areas that people critiqued, including being able to pay with a credit card without using Paypal, better looking site, being able to use coupon codes in the shopping cart and more. There are also a lot of benefits for me. I would be able to easily track inventory, sales, discounts would not have to be done manually, easier listing of new products, and better organization and categories. It would also take me much less time to list new items, meaning..(drumroll please).. MORE VARIETY! The website will still be dedicated to my hand sculpted polymer clay sweet treats jewelry, but with a twist, which I am not going to reveal until closer to the unveiling of the new site. So you will just have to wait eagerly! I hope that by May the new website will be up and running.

There will also be a few changes coming to the FFD Etsy Shop. I have realized that my Alice in Wonderland collection is loved by many so I will therefore be dedicating my entire Etsy shop to this collection soon. This means a lot more variety within the Alice line and a cohesiveness to the shop. I will not be listing any more Edgy Feminine Jewelry so that I can really focus on and perfect the Alice line. Other than custom orders, any new items listed will be Alice in Wonderland related. I hope this is exciting news to all of the Alice fans out there!

On another note, I'm still slowly but surely getting ready for the benefit/show I have at the end of April. I'm super excited and with each new item I make for the show I realize that it is getting closer. I will keep you all updated on my progress as the days go by. I hope you realize this is also the reason why there is less listing in my Etsy Shop and updating to the FFD website. Regular listing/updating will resume after April 30th.

Well, I thank you all for your love and support, have a great Monday!

GNO Progress

As you all know, I have the Girl's Night Out event at the end of April. So when I got sick last week I was really sad because I have so much to do to get ready. I know the most important thing to do is make a lot of inventory for the show. I have about 50 pieces made so far and just wanted to share a few photos of the stock I have to update you on my progress.

I have about 150 items left to make because my goal is to have at least 200 items by the day of the show. I will be updating you all over the next weeks as I get ready and make more stuff. Hope you enjoy it. <3

I've actually made a lot more since I took these pictures a few days ago, a lot more Alice in Wonderland stuff, so I'm sure I will have more photos for you soon!

Falling Down the Rabbit Hole

This weekend I went to the movies and watched the new Alice in Wonderland. I have to say that I really like it. I thought the characters were really well done. I just sort of wished it would have been more of the original story since I love that one so much. But despite that, I think that if you love Alice you should go see it! Anyway, if you did see the movie what did you think of it?

Now for some eye candy plus a small feature..

Wonderland Necklace, handmade by me

White Rabbit Ring, handmade by me

I discovered this Etsy shop, called The Poppy Tree,  a few weeks ago and love her alice themed art:

FFD will be at "Girl's Night Out"

I have some very exciting news to share with everyone...

Several months ago I was invited to be a vendor at an event here in New Mexico called "Girl's Night Out". It is a shopping and spa event for women 21+. This event is held by the Ronald McDonald House Charities here in New Mexico. Part of the proceeds benefit the charity. You can read more about the event on their website.

When I was invited it wasn't a concrete thing that they would allow me to participate. I had to submit an application. I have been anxiously waiting to hear back from them since December. And just last week I got the news that I had been accepted!

I'm so excited to be a part of a great cause and also get out there and sell some of my designs to women in the area. This will be my first local event selling face to face. So I have been working very hard to get ready. I'm anticipating needing 200+ items by April 30th. Plus displays, signage, coupons, packaging, etc etc.

I am still in college full time, so this is going to zap all of my time for now. I'm not sure how often I am going to list on Etsy or update the FFD website, but custom orders are still open. And I have big plans for big changes coming to the FFD website soon, but more details about that later.

The event is on April 30th at the new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Albuquerque, so I am going to be updating you all on my progress and of course post pictures and news about the event afterwords.
